Wendell Lee Mail was born on August 21, 1959 at Poplar Community Hospital to Gordon and Gwen Mail. He made his spiritual journey on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
He was the 6 th of 7 children born to that family, of which 2 were still born. He was better known to his friends and family as Hump. Grandpa Dave gave him that name because he liked to pout and his lips would hit the floor (moccasin lips). Hump was very artistic and could do a portrait of a scene that was so real it was life like. If you knew Hump, it was probably because of his musical ability. He had great talent playing drums, bass guitar, keyboard, ect., with his brother Gary’s band. They always had a gig every weekend somewhere between Sidney and Glasgow. If not on the road, they would play at Don’s bar or the Meg’s Bank Shot (just us ol’ ones remember that place).
Wendell had a loving way about him. He always greeted his siblings with a big bear hug and a kiss when he had his limbs. He was also a funny guy. He would have you laughing about something soon as you went into his place. He was always ready to crack a joke, tease you until you get mad, or pull pranks on those unsuspecting. That was Hump, but he also had a serious side. He was compassionate, generous, kinds and loved by all his family and friends. Our memories of him will never die.
Hump had a long battle with diabetes most of his life. At the end of his life he had lost both legs, one arm, and was blind. But he never lost his sense of humor.
Preceding Hump in death is his parents, Gordon and Gwen Mail; maternal grandparent, Dave Johnson and Eliza No Breast Johnson; paternal grandparents, Jack (John) and Lucy (Kuhn) Mail; an infant brother; an infant sister, Sharon Liberty; brother, John Mail; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Theresa Iron Cloud; daughters, Patti Jo, Chelsea (James), and Tanya Mail; sons, Wendell, Jr. (Sneauxy) (Baby Hump), William (Char), John David, Johnnie, and Raymond (Kim) Mail; brothers, Russell (Verdis) Mail and Allan Mail both of Wolf Point; sisters, Marilyn and Gwen (John) both of Wolf Point; aunts, Donna Chase of Wolf Point and Lydia Johnson of Wapato, WA; special nephew, Bret Miller of Billings, MT; and grandkids, too many to mention.
