Vincent Craig Bear Cub, Amáhbiya Awáyaga (Watches the Clouds)
Vincent Craig Bear Cub was born to Etheline Iyola Bear Cub and Louis LaMere on July 28, 1966. He was the baby of the family who was adored by his sisters, Jonnylee, Velvet, and Gaynell. His big brother, George guided him lovingly protective. He had a happy childhood playing with his friends and cousins on the south side of Wolf Point. He loved to ride horses, his bikes and baseball. He attended school in Wolf Point where he excelled in basketball and track. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to his rock n’ roll music. He went to Helena, MT to Boy’s State as a Junior in High School. He graduated in May of 1984. He worked in many different areas. He enjoyed firefighting, worked at A&S Industries, convenience stores and construction in Lawrence, Kansas. He attended the Montana Law Enforcement Academy and the Federal Law Enforcement Academy in Artesia, New Mexico then becoming a Tribal Police Officer and Fort Peck Correctional Officer. The last 2 years, Vincent worked at Spotted Bull Treatment Center where he earned his Peer Support Specialist Certification. He enjoyed helping people. Vince had the best heart.
He had two sons, Steven and Michael. In 2007, he married Twilia Stafne and had his son, Wilder. In 2014, Vincent went back to his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; where he eventually was appointed the branch President of Poplar. He cherished this calling, serving faithfully.
Vincent was diagnosed with high-grade sarcoma cancer on September 24, 2019. He valiantly fought but succumbed to it on January 4, 2022.
Vincent is survived by his loving wife, Twilia; sons, Steven Michael, and Wilder Bear Cub, Jesse and Jace Daniels; daughters, Jade Daniels and June Daniels; granddaughters, Jazmyn Carrywater, Rowan, Scott, Keleyn Azure, Anjulie Baker, Emalin Martell, Ada Wind, Kimimina, Jocy Daniels, Tamerain Daniels, Brylee, Brayden, Bailey, and Brooklyn Bear Cub; grandsons, Jayden and Cru Headdress, Bostyn Azure, Jaxon Daniels, Brody Bear Cub, and Damie Baker; and great-granddaughter, Esmé Headdress. Vincent lovingly called Rusty Stafne “Dad”. He will be missed by his sisters, Jonnylee Bear Cub, Velvet Schneider, Gaynell McClammy; his loving aunt, Viola and uncle, Beaver Woods. His close relatives are the Tattoos, Bear Cubs, O’Watch, Wood, Schneiders, and Copenhaver.
A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Poplar. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Stafne Family Cemetery, west of Wolf Point. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
