In the late evening of January 24, 2026, Moonman came down from the heavens and saw little brother’s tired face, taking him by the hand, they walked up the alley from Terry’s they made their journey home.
Terry Nelson was born in Poplar, MT to Carmelita and Nelson Eagle Boy on November 21, 1957.
While growing up he loved being around and riding horses because at heart he was a cowboy. He loved playing basketball, one of the many things he was good at. He was given his Indian name Hokshina Wambdi “Eagle Boy” by his grandfather Matthew Eagle Boy. He also fancy danced from the heart.
In 1977 upon graduating from Poplar High School, Terry and his brother enlisted into the Army together called the buddy system. After boot camp, they were both stationed in Germany. He had a lifetime of experiences and memories. Anyone who visited/hung out with Terry knew of his travels and accomplishments. Upon completion, he often spent time with family, mainly his aunts, Irene of Poplar and Cynthea Sparvier of Carlyle, Canada, White Bear Reserve. While living in Canada he met Roberta Little Chief. Upon their union they had a daughter named Terrace Orleane. Terry spent a lot of his years in Canada on the White Bear Reserve. Returning back to the states, he went to Rapid City, South Dakota to work at the Toy Factory, he enjoyed his time in his life. He often reminisced to his company or visitors about going back.
Terry was an outdoors kind of man, he enjoyed hunting wild game and digging roots, picking turnips during the seasons. He enjoyed being outdoors with his Alaskan malamute, Morning Star aka Star the big white dog.
Terry also has two other daughters, Deanna Youpee and Terri Lynn. He reunited with his companion of 27 years, Georelle Kay Red Eagle. Together they raised Adam and Martha Black Dog, both were their pride and joy which they both loved dearly til the end of their days.
He is survived by his daughters, Deanna, Terri Lynn and his baby girl Terrace Orleane; grandkids, Serenity and Jessa of Canada, Adam and Martha Black Dog; sister, Dreamis Eagle Boy; only auntie, Gloria Buckles; cousins, Verdine Russell, Kim Sparvier, Paulie Boxer, Rose Longee, Steffie Eagle Boy, Marcella Eagle Boy, Linda Lezard, Sheryl Boyd, Myrna Daniels, Verni, Myron, Robert, Lawrence Red Eagle, Tony Iron Bear, Angelica Cheek, Trudy Snell, Joetta Snell, Juanita Conrad; nieces and nephews, John McClammy and family, Pearl DeMarrias and family, Todd Spotted Wolf, Jessica Boyd and family, Chaya Eagle Boy and family, Yolanda Parshall and family, Laura Eagle Boy, Raven Lee, Irwin Russell, Traci Russell, Mike Russell and Noah Sparvier; also the Onley boys.
He is preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents; his parents, Nelson Eagle Boy and Carmelita Eagle Boy; brothers and sisters, Snookie, Chucky, Choaya, Melvin and Carmen; cousins, aunties and uncles too many to name gone before him. Please understand we apologize if we missed anyone, we’re all going through a hard time trying to deal with this. He loved you all.
A vigil will be held on Thurs. Feb. 5th at 7:00 p.m., funeral services will be held on Fri. Feb. 6th at 11:00 a.m. all at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at Chelsea Cemetery.
