Steven James Stanley, 56, of Wolf Point passed away February 16, 2014 at his residence in Wolf Point.
Steve was born June 20, 1957 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the only child of William Wynette and Beverly McCombs Stanley.
Steve attended school in Marshalltown and Eldora, Iowa. He was a proud member of the Boy Scouts and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. As a young man Steve met and married Christine Brandt and they had a daughter, Angelia. The marriage ended but they remained friends. Steve then married Susan Hagen and they had a son, Tanner. In 1993 Steve married Allene Eaglechasing and they had a daughter Brittany and a son Austin. The family lived in Kamrar, Iowa where Steve was employed by Van Diest Supply as a plant shift supervisor. He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT and studied emergency medicine at Iowa Central Community College. The marriage ended in 2004 and Steve and Austin moved to Nevada, IA where Steve was engaged to Jeanne Spaur, worked as an A4 operator at Hach Manufacturing, and was a member of the Nevada Volunteer Fire Department. In 2007 Steve and Austin moved to Wolf Point, Montana where Steve was employed by the city of Wolf Point as a heavy equipment operator. On February 29, 2008, Steve was married to Judi Cody.
Steve was a stubborn, grumpy, sarcastic man with a huge heart who was very passionate about and loyal to his loved ones and causes that were important to him. An old biker that never got over his love for Harleys, Steve loved to reminisce about riding his old 1977 Super Glide to Sturgis and Bear Butte. He loved football, gardening, nature, and enjoyed spending as much time in it as possible. He loved hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing, and walking his black lab and best friend Opie.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
Steve is survived by his wife Judi of Wolf Point, children Angelia Rodriguez of Des Moines, IA; Tanner Hagen of Oxford, MA; Brittany Stanley of Aurora, CO; and Austin Stanley of Wolf Point, MT. Steve is survived by grandchildren Cristian, Jazmin, and Eric Garcia; Elias and Isaac Rodriguez, Antonio Batista, Oliver Stanley, and Jaslynn Stanley.
Private services were held Friday, February 21, 2014 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point with cremation following. Steve’s children will gather this summer in his memory to release his ashes, as he requested, at Bear Butte. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point assisted with arrangements.
