Steven Paul Nygaard, age 61, of Wolf Point, Montana, passed away August 7, 2021, at his home on the farm with his family by his side.
Steve was born on August 11, 1959 in Wolf Point, Montana to Burle and Lillian (Black) Nygaard, he was the fifth of six children. He was raised on the family farm north of Wolf Point and graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1978. In high school he participated in football, basketball, and wrestling, with football being his favorite sport. After high school he worked on various plumbing projects which took him to Nett Lake, Minnesota. He later attended Eastern Montana College where he made life-long friends. In 1981 he worked for a seismograph company as an operator and mechanic again making life-long friends while working in Texas, California, Utah, Wyoming and Montana. In 1988 Steve followed in his father’s footsteps and began farming. Steve loved his farming life, especially harvest, and spent many hours reading and researching farm related topics. He enjoyed shop talk about farming, equipment and vehicles. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. In 1991 Steve married Linda DenBoer of Dupuyer, Montana. She joined him in farming and on June 15 th they celebrated 30 years together.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda of Wolf Point, and their three children: Katrina Nygaard of Bellingham, WA, Paul Nygaard of Wolf Point, and Maegen Sayles Settlemires of Pensacola, FL, and her three children. He is also survived by two sisters and three brothers: Linda Marie Nygaard of Vashon, WA, her sons Luke (Angela) Danielson and Ryan (Christine) Thomas; Duane Nygaard of Wolf Point, his children Payden and Lindsey Nygaard; Randy Nygaard of Sedalia, CO; Brenda Weeks of Wolf Point, her children Walker (Rhiannon) and Jessica Weeks; and Bradley (Caroline) Nygaard of Chelan, WA, his daughters Nicholette and Miranda Nygaard, as well as two special aunts Lyla Pugsley and May Blysak, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Burle and Lillian Nygaard. Steve loved those that he left behind too soon. He will be missed until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life Service for family and friends will take place at his home, August 21, 2021 at 5:00pm, with a potluck lunch following the service. Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore will officiate the service. Cremation has taken place, arrangements by Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Honorary Pallbearers: All of his friends.
