Shirley Moran

Shirley Violetta Moran, 92, of Poplar passed away peacefully at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point. She was Boren on October 15, 1933 to Andrew and Alice White in Poplar.

Growing up Shirley attended Poplar School. Later she made Poplar School her work place as she started as an aide, then moved to breakfast cook where she made a lot of amazing toast for the kids. She worked there from the 1960’s to the late 1990’s. She made some special friends there, Michael Kaschube, and Joseph Redstar

Shirley enjoyed taking walks, reading and spending time with her animals especially her cats. She was a member of the Nazarene church and would take her children faithfully every Sunday.

Shirley married the love of her life Bernard Moran for 63 years until his passing in 2013. Listening to her talk about her years of growing up and being with Papa Bernard was the best.

Shirley made her home at the Faith Lutheran Home for the past 12 years of her life. Her CNA’s made her days great. She made some special bonds with them. Her favorite sayings such as “love you, love you, love you” but if you were special her, she would add “forever and ever” to it. When she needed do something she would say “Oh jeez”. She loved the hair dresser days. They made her hair look so beautiful! She would take out her red lipstick for her final touch. She looked so pretty.

Shirley highlight of her days would be when Shane would come in to visit, she would ask him to sing the Dakota hymns to her. She sat in her chair and smile; she would join in when she could. Shane and Shirley would sit and visit, he could make her laugh and smile. She talked about Bernard and daddy Andrew also with him. When it was time for Shane to go home, she would say I love you! He would kiss her forehead and continue to admire the pictures she had up of Shane and Colleen Raymond “Scotty” and the one she set right in front of her. Her favorite show was little house on the Prairie.

The high light of her life was being able to celebrate her last birthday surrounded by family at FLH, also being able to laugh with Zane Sibley and her Doctor Doc Z.

Shirley was survived by her son Wade, her granddaughter Thea, great grandsons Red Bear and Rusty, great-granddaughters Hokia and Tosha McCloud. Her son Kent Shane (Janeen), grandson Shane (Angel), great grandchildren Lanie, Dane, Jeneya and Caleigha Moran. Grandson Lane (Casey) Moran, Granddaughter Shani (Dorrance) Clark, great grand children Haeli, Kenzley, Kelsyn and Kyler Kent. J’lanie (Dwaine) great grand children Brooklyn, D’lanie and Bacari Spotted Bird. Grandson Andrew (Thailen). Grandson Scotty (Misty) Moran, granddaughter Laura Moran, oldest granddaughter Gretchen Brien; great granddaughter Amaya, twins Alexsis and Anthony. Granddaughter Jamie, great grandson Jericon (Ronnea) granddaughter Maria Brien; great grandsons Jayden and John, great granddaughter Brooklyn. Granddaughter Gabrielle (Butch) Littlelight, great grandsons Chiefy, Cadence, Hunter, Jacoby, Dawn, great granddaughter Adelyn.

All of Hardin. She was blessed to see her fifth generation: Baby Bear, Kaleb, Amani, Luke and Cole. Also survived by son in law Curtis Brien and grandson Russell McCloud.

Preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Alice White. Brothers: Donald, Raymond and Basil White. Husband Bernard Moran. Daughters: Diane Moran, Collen Brien. Sons: Scott Shane and Raymond Scott. Great grandsons Baby D and Baylor Spotted Bird.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her families and friends from Faith Lutheran Home. Rest easy beautiful Siouxwoman.

A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Friday, August 28 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 29 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
