Sheila Marie Huertas-Scott

Sheila Marie Huertas-Scott, age 37, of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away on October 5, 2025 in Richmond, VA.

Sheila was born on April 27, 1988 in Williston, ND to Pauline RedStar and Reginald Scott. Sheila was adopted by her aunt Nancy RedStar, she moved to Billings, MT up until she finished high school then she joined the AirForce in 2006. She was honorably discharged in 2009 from the AirForce.

Sheila graduated Skyview High in 2006. While she was at Skyview she participated in basketball and cross-country. Sheila furthered her education by receiving her Associate’s Degree in Business Management from Germanna Community College and was working on her Bachelor’s Degree.

She loved spending time with son Giovanni Huertas, her 2 step-sons, Junior and Eli Reyes, along with her fiancé Korrine Estrada. She loved taking her dog Cash for walks. Sheila would call back home to her sisters Laurel Menz, Marian and Nancy Scott always joking around making each other laugh. Sheila would call her adopted mother, Nancy RedStar to check up on her and her 2 step-brothers, Earl and William Jones, Jr. Sheila would chat with her cousin Alexx Eagleman-James always talking about the good times. They played basketball together in high school and in basketball tournaments. Sheila had many stories for everyone. She will be greatly by all those who knew her for her personality and big heart.

Sheila worked at Dairy Queen in Billings, MT until moving home to Poplar, MT, where she worked as a correctional officer at the Adult Corrections. She later became a police officer for the Fort Peck Tribes until she moved to Virginia in 2013. She started working for Costco up until her passing. She made it up to supervisor for Costco in Fredericksburg, VA.

She is survived by her son Giovanni Huertas; 2 step sons, Junior and Eli Reyes; fiancé Korrine Estrada; her adopted mother Nancy RedStar; 2 step-brothers Earl and William Jones, Jr.; her siblings Laurel (Michael) Menz, Michael Menz, Marian (Donald) Scott, Nancy (Michael) Scott, Tricia RedStar; her aunties Marcella (Joel) GreyBull, Cheryl (Corey) Two Hearts, Patti RedStar, Josephine RedStar, Robyn Baker, Jeanine Renz, Starla Longee, Crystal (Robert) Azure, Jennifer Crowe, Cheryl (Israel) Eagleman-Rodrigues; her uncles include Samuel (DeAnna) RedStar, Joseph RedStar, Delbert RedStar, Paul RedStar, Levi RedStar, Kenneth Eder, Robert Eder, Kevin (Joyce) Eder, Danny (Glenna) Renz, Ralph Hamilton, and Herald (Colleen) Renz; her nieces and nephews TyLIsha RedEagle, Brandon RedStar, Devin, Daniel, Haley GrayHawk, ReShawn and Brian Mail Jr., Riki and Pauline LongHair; numerous cousins.

Sheila has a very big family on both sides in South Dakota and Montana.

Sheila is preceded in death by her mother, Pauline RedStar; her father Reginald Scott; her sisters Tyra and April Scott; her maternal grandparents Virginia Lame Dog and Paul RedStar Jr.; her paternal grandparents Harold Renz, Sr., and Delores Scott, many uncles and aunties and cousins too many to mention.
