Sandra Marie Darnell

December 20, 1989 — February 25, 2019

Sandra Marie Fast Horse was born on December 20, 1989 in San Diego, CA to Joetta All Runner and Guy “Tubby” Fast Horse. Sandra was enrolled in the Southern Cheyenne Tribe at the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes in Oklahoma. Sandra also had maternal descendancy from the Kickapoo Tribe and the Shawnee Tribe in Oklahoma. She had paternal descendancy from the Sicangu Lakota Tribe in South Dakota including Yanktonai Dakota descendancy from her paternal grandmother. Sandra received her Assiniboine name, “Wóhįšte Ska Wiya,” (White Eagle Plume Woman) for her years among the Assiniboine people and as her step-father Lance Four Star’s daughter.  Sandra also carried the Cheyenne name, “Munhowa,” (Water Woman) and Kickapoo name, “Wanothequa,” (Little Bear Learning to Walk).

Sandra is named after Sandra Marie Hale of Southern California and her paternal grandmother Sandra Wade of South Dakota. Sandra grew up in El Cajon, California with her mother Joetta and her siblings until moving to Montana at the age of 13.  She was lovingly known as, “Sandy Cheeks,” and, “Miss San Diego.” Sandra was a very smart, happy loving child. She learned to walk at 10 months and was on the go from then. She loved to dance Jingle and Southern Cloth. She danced at Pow Wow’s throughout Southern California. She was known by everyone after consistently introducing herself to all the dancers everywhere she danced. She attended Bostonia Elementary & Montgomery Middle Schools in El Cajon, California. She also attended Wolf Point High School, Poplar High School & Frazer High School where she was Lady Bearcub on The Varsity Girls Basketball team.

Sandra met her future husband, Tyrone Darnell, in 2003 and were close friends later in high school. Tyrone asked Sandra to his Wolf Point High School Prom in 2007. Sandra had moved to Fort Yates, North Dakota in 2007, returning to Wolf Point in 2014 rekindling the friendship with Tyrone Darnell. They were engaged later that year and were married in 2015. In 2016, Tetsuo Ely Darnell was born. During their time together they frequented the Taprooms, the Great Out Doors and loved listening to music together. They loved to take their baby boy Tetsuo for walks in the park. Tyrone reminisces that this romance was akin to one that you only see in movies or read about in books. Tyrone and Sandy loved to ride his motorcycle together which lifted her free spirit.

Sandra had a daughter, Kimora Marie All Runner, with Chad Nelligan while in Frazer. Kimora is amicably known as, “MoMo,” a nickname given to her by her mom, and was raised in her formidable years with her Grandma Jojo and her Papa Lance. Kimora now enjoys a full life with her Southern Cheyenne Grandparents Fred and Debra All Runner in Oklahoma as a princess and cheerleader.

Sandra also provided life for three children; Kardell, Kymani and Sky Blue, who reside on the Standing Rock Reservation in Fort Yates, South Dakota with their father, Eric Archambault and his family.

Sandra’s purpose and love in life was being a Mother to her beloved children. Sandy also found time to work at The Freeze, Mc Donald’s, The Prairie Knights Casino, The Sherman Inn and for the Sievers as a House Keeper.

Sandra loved her family and friends very much. She was a free spirit and wasn’t afraid of anything. Those who knew Sandra were attracted to her spirit, quick wit, caring attitude, strong personality and her big smile. Sandra fought a tough battle with her illness and still managed to have her humor. She loved her dad Lance Elliot Four Star and glad he took her and her siblings as his own.

Sandra is preceded in death by her maternal great-great grandfather Cheyenne Peace Chief Jacob All Runner, maternal grandmother, LaDonna Atchico – All Runner, maternal great-grandparents Jack and Emily All Runner, maternal grandmother Eva Jeanette All Runner, maternal grandfather Cheyenne Peace Chief Lionel All Runner, maternal grandmother Toni Hawk, uncle Hank Hawk, uncle Eugene Fast Horse, paternal great-grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fast Horse.
