Ruth Marie Shawl-Jackson

Ruth Marie Shawl Jackson (Wahóȟbi Agán Naži Wįyą/Stands On the Nest Woman) Born in Harlem, MT on the Fort Belknap Agency. Creator Caller her home at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, MT.

Ruths parents were David Shawl and Vivian Bear.

Ruth met the love of her life, Ron Jackson in 1972 and they were married on June 27, 1974. They spent 48.9 years of their lives together.

Ruth had four daughters, Gina (Billy) Bow, Melanie (Danny) Jackson, Heather (John) Jackson, and Holly (Joe) Jackson. She had 11 grandchildren, T.J. (Mercadeez), Presley, Jack, Kalvin, Marcell, Macyn, Daniel, Lake Don “Nicky”, Ily and Rebel. She also had two beloved fur babies, Baby and Curly Sue.

Ruth was survived by her sister Nadine McClammy and her brother Donald Shawl.

She was proceeded in death by her son Foster Paul, parents David and Vivian, her sisters Norma Azure, Georgalene Jackson, Ethel “Pie” Jackson, and Judy Rodriquez, her brothers Scamp, Bootsie Jackson, Roland Clark and Rusty Jackson, and her special parents, her mother and father-in-law who raised her, Calvin and Tootie Clark.

Ruth was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan and attended many NFL games, some with her aunt and uncle Larry and Edna Wetsit. She’s always been a Chicago Bulls fan and loved Micheal Jordan.

She travelled all over the U.S. and took many vacations with her “memory maker”, her hubby Ron. They attended many concerns and entertainments events. She loved basketball and enjoyed watching her grandson’s T.J., Geordy and Del Ray.

She loved to shop and spoil her grandchildren who she loved deeply.

Ruth had achieved many accomplishments in her life. She received her GED, and associate degree in business management, a bachelor’s in business management and received a master’s degree in social work and was a licensed clinical social worker.

Everyone called her “Dr. Ruth”.

She held many jobs and worked for 50 years. She worked at Faith Home, the Office of Public Assistance, Southside School in Wolf Point, T.L.U in Poplar and at the J.D.C.

She also volunteered for many organizations with her husband, including the J.O.M Committee, the Wadopana Committee, the Wolf Point Food Bank and most recently the Red Bottom Committee.

Ruth was a member of the Catholic church where she was baptized with her God parents, Leonard and Edna Brien.

She was also a member of the lodge and loved her native community. Ruth had strong faith and loved everyone in her life.

Ruth made many friends and family throughout her life, so many that we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. Please forgive us during this difficult time if we left anyone out.
