Regina Romero, age 24, of Poplar passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 outside of Miles City, Montana.
She was born on April 2, 1991 on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon in Pueblo, Colorado. Her parents are Lucinda Standing Bear and Bobby Romero. Regina was an enrolled member of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe and grew up on the reservation. She attended Headstart in Poplar where she was Headstart Princess in her class. She attended high school in Pueblo, graduating in 2010. She went on to attend Intellitec and received her nursing degree. She worked at various places including, McDonalds, Target and Home Health Care. She was involved in many organizations like the Red Buffalo Society, Poplar Indian Days Committee, and the Challenge Program.
Regina had many interests but she mostly liked to spend time with her dogs, cruise around, hang with friends and family, and go out to eat. She especially enjoyed dancing and writing poems.
She was a lifelong resident of Poplar, Montana and also spent time in Pueblo, Colorado.
She is survived by her parents, Bobbie (Debbie) Romero and Lucinda Standing Bear; siblings, Donald, Bobby Jr., Brandon, Sherae Jaramillo, Patricia, Brianna Romero and Louis; children, Adaleeanna and Murtartavious Avitia; boyfriend, Adrian Avitia; grandparents, John Iron Man and Donald and Susie Romero; great grandparents, Theresa and George Salazar.
She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Vera Ironman; paternal great grandfather, Joe Aragon; and paternal great grandparents, Dorthy and Manual Romero.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
