Ramona Lee (Buckles) Kirn was born on May 28th 1931 to David Buckles Sr and Hazel Boyd in Poplar, MT. She had sisters Alice, Mary, Davetta, Sonia, and Patsy as well as their brother David “Shunks”. She attended Poplar Schools until she met the love of her life, Jesse Kirn. They were married in April of 1949 and shared many decades together until Jesse’s passing in 2002. Out of this union they had four children, Jesse Jr (Nancy), Rhonda, Russell (Gayle), and Thomas (Colleen). She had grandkids Scott, Jessica, Pamela, Sharyl, Shelly, Rusti, Alex, Sami Lee, Toni, Katie and Seth. From these grandchildren came twenty great-grandchildren.
Ramona worked for some time as a nurse’s aide in Poplar Hospital before starting her life as a wife and homemaker. She was an avid arrowhead/rock hunter, professional calf-puller, the hostess of live card games, and a tripe-and-chicken cleaner. Gramma was truly a Jill of All Trades, spending many days and evenings working on many crafts or watching soap operas (God forbid if you interrupted Days of Our Lives). Ramona always made everyone feel welcome in her home and made sure nobody ever went hungry. Her and grampa Jesse also loved their little Shi-Tzu Dixie and had several other dogs throughout the years.
Ramona and Jesse were never bored as there were always chores to be done on the farm and in their spare time they loved to travel to many different places across the country and throughout the world. She insisted on the celebration of life and to remember her fondly with a smile on your face, and to laugh at the many goofy times shared over the years.
Ramona is preceded in death by parents David and Hazel; Siblings Alice, Mary, Dave “Shunks”, and Sonia. Grandkids Shelly and Sami Lee. Daughters-in-law Nancy and Colleen. Also, her beloved dog Dixie. She is survived by their four children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many lifelong friends and relatives too numerous to name. Sorry if anybody was not mentioned, our family is pretty large.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
