Norma Gunn-Kalien

Norma Maybelle Gunn was born on May 20, 1930 in Flaxville, Montana to Russell and Vera (Krassin) Gunn, the 4 th of 6 children. The family moved to Scobey in 1937 and remained there until Norma finished grade school. They moved to Wolf Point in 1942and Norma graduated from Wolf Point High School in 1948.

She married Willie Kalien in 1949 and worked at JC Penney’s for 12 years. They adopted 2 children, Ronda Kae in 1960 and Robert Willie in 1962. She later worked at the Big Sky Motel, Gillette Pharmacy and as a personal caregiver. She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church where she served as President of the Women’s Club, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, and a Mission leader. In 1999, Norma was chosen Wolf Point’s Senior of the Year.

She is survived by a daughter, Ronda of Miles City; 4 grandchildren, one sister, Shirley Olson of Laurel, Montana and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father in 1962; her husband in 1984; a sister, Janice Bartel in 1988; mother in 1994;a sister, Juanita Hoch in 2005; stepfather, Ted Kerner in 2006; her son, Robert in 2007; a brother, Larry Gunn in 2014; and sister, Pauline Peterson in 2016.

No public services will be held at this time. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements and condolences can be left for family by using the form below.
