Michael Vandall

Michael Aaron Vandall “Circling Eagle” went to join his mother and father in the presence of the Lord on August 4, 2026.

Michael was born in Wolf Point, Montana on October 15, 1983 and was happily greeted by 12 siblings who loved their little brother with all their heart.

Michael spent his younger years in Wolf Point attending head start before his mom moved the family to Portland, Oregon. The family moved back to Wolf Point in 1992. As a child Michael was the youngest sibling and the twinkle in our eyes. He would perform his spontaneous “performances”, singing, telling jokes and loving the attention he got from the entire family. Always followed by our clapping and cheering for him.

Michael attended schools in Wolf Point, Chemawa and Riverside Indian Schools, then graduated from Kicking Horse Job Corps with his diploma and a degree in facilities management.

During his travels to school and returning home he met his life long friends, Adrian Pipestem, Corey Schindler, and Hunter Adams. They became inseparable and were known to be quite the lady’s men.

In 2025, Michael attended Fort Peck Community College. Following school, Michael worked various jobs and was notorious for taking care of all his nieces and nephews. His passion was taking them fishing and giving all of them unconditional love. He was known as the “River Monster Assassin”, self-proclaimed of course. Michael was always known for his big smile, his offers of help and kindness.

He had three beautiful girls. In 2007, he met the love of his life, Kaytlin Nation. Not long after that in 2008 came his first daughter, Layla Marie Vandall. She was named after his cat that he loved, Tails Marie Jungle Kitty Vandall. Then he realized being a father was the greatest honor he could ever experience. In 2011 came his second daughter, Vanessa Eileen Fatih Vandall. Another excitement came in 2013, when his last daughter, Briana Lee Vandall was born. Then his life was complete. Or so he thought, until he found out his first grandchild Micah will be born September 7, 2026.

Michael continued to have a good relationship with his siblings. But he had an extra special relationship with his niece, Janica Jorgenson and nephews, Jared Weeks Combs, Alex Solberg and Daniel Vandall. While living in Wolf Point, he often traveled back and forth to Spirit Lake, ND for his family. Michael loved being outdoors and was deep into his beliefs. He always attended sweats and sun dances as much as he could throughout his life. Michael told his girls to rely on the family and to stay close because they would always care for them. 

Michael left this world the way he wanted the live. We are proud of the strength he gave us.

Michael is survived by his three daughters, Layla Vandall, Vanessa Vandall, and Briana Vandall; maternal siblings, Lionel (DeeAnn) Weeks, Frances Weeks, Olivia (Beezer) Jorgenson, Dyan Greywater, Duane Goodtrack Sr., Francis (Cassandra) Goodtrack, followed by 88 nieces, nephews, and extended grand-nieces and nephews; paternal side siblings, Ceceilia (Greg) Solberg, Lee (Sharri) Vandall, Kristen (Corey) Bunk, Troy (Melanie) Vandall, and 15 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn Littlehead and Lyle Vandall; maternal grandparents, Elaine Cantrell and Arnold Littlehead Sr.; paternal grandparents, Ed and Ernestine Vandall; brother, William Goodtrack; nephew, Tristen Vandall. 

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Monday, August 10 at the Wolf Point Community Hall. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 11 at the Wolf Point Community Hall with cremation to follow. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
