Larry Eugene Grimsrud passed away of natural causes on December 4, 2020 at the Garfield County Health Center at the age of 91.
Larry was born February 1, 1929 to Axel and Ruby Grimsrud, the oldest of four children. He attended Wide Awake country school. Larry spent time driving truck hauling hay before he married Sharon Sugden on October 12, 1952. They settled north of Wolf Point on his father’s homestead. Larry sold his beloved cub airplane to buy cattle and began farming. In 1974 they moved their family to the river bottom where Larry and his friends built their beautiful log home. He bought a ranch at Haxby Point in 1982, where he continued to farm and ranch and acquired another airplane. When Larry retired, he and his wife moved from Haxby to Jordan in 2004 where Larry began collecting and refurbishing antique furniture. Larry loved horses and dogs, most of the time he had at least one dog following him everywhere. He always welcomed anyone into his home to visit over a cup of coffee and a piece of pie. He spent the last 6 years of his life at the Garfield County Health Center where the caring staff became like a second family.
Larry is survived by his wife Sharon of 68 years, his sister JoAnn Martens of Butte, his children Craig (Jerri) Grimsrud of Wolf Point, Kim (Bruce) Ferguson of Fort Peck, Kyle (Jackie) Grimsrud of Roy, Shauna (Fred) Murnion of Cohagen, Kurt Grimsrud of Billings and Shay (Brad) Vernes of Billings as well as two daughters-in-law Kristen Grimsrud of Huntley and Ellen Kant of New Underwood, SD. He also leaves 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Don and Wayne, his son Chris and a great grandson Brayden.
