Kevin Burshia

September 15, 1964 — January 6, 2024

After a lengthy illness, our beloved Kevin made his journey to our Heavenly Father on January 6, 2024 at his residence in Poplar. He was born September 15, 1964 to Gloria B. Chopper.

Kevin attended school in Poplar and graduated from Chemawa Indian School in Salem, Oregon. He attended American Indian Bible College in Phoenix, Arizona and eventually obtained a CDL in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked as a special education paraprofessional and bus driver in Alakaket, Alaska. Kevin was trained as a cook in the US Army from 1985-1987. He worked at A&S Tribal Industries and Poplar School as a paraprofessional Kevin enjoyed working with children.

Kevin had a crazy sense of humor; he liked to tease and joke around and laugh with his friends and family every change he got. He also enjoyed visiting with various friends and family that would stop by. Fishing, playing darts, Wii, cards and dice were a few things he enjoyed doing in the past. And going for an occasional cruise, jamming out to his favorite music, mainly Dwight Yoakam.

He is survived by his mother, Gloria Chopper; his children Kevin, Jr., Samantha, Briann, Tyree (Chub), Heather, Mary, Arthur, Amalayah and Austin, and Ryan Burshia; adopted son Theo Crowe; adopted sister Vicky Perry; sisters Brenda (George) Eder, Roxann (Robert) Smith, and Nicolle (Maurice Jr.) Bighorn, Carrie and Harold “Buddy” Adams; brothers Theodore (Marta) Ricker and Patrick Anderson; aunts Grace Wakan, Delilah Alfrey, Linda and Tiny Parslow and Aunt Jackie and John Spotted Bird ; cousins Robert, Jr. (Bobby), Barney, Vicky, Debbie, Penny and Shannon Hopkins, Cheryl, Sandy, Connie and Dean Sutherland, Sam and Henry Buckles; nephews, Nephew Justin Grayhawk Jr., and Taylor Azure; grandchildren MaKayla, Ezekial, Baili, Lawrence, Judy, Samara, Miccayla, Arabella, Roxy, Rory and special friend Scrappy, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and relatives too numerous to mention. Kevin was also related to the Buckles, Lamberts, Chapmans, Stormys, McClammys, Choppers, Lizottes, Reddogs, Summers, Youpees and Eders. Everybody he knew and met that made an impact on his life, he considered them as family.

He was preceded in death by a brother Curtis Buckles, Sr.; sisters Patricia Anderson and Karen Buckles; grandparents Thomas and Mary Buckles; step father Abe Chopper; grandson Karsen Smith; adopted son Lawrence Crowe; aunts Pearl Hopkins, Louise Ell, Lorraine Stormy, Joann Reddog, Lorraine Reddog; uncles Raymond Buckles, Darrel Reddog; cousins Julie Hopkins, Camilla, Francine, Frankie, Roger and Conrad Buckles; nieces Marlene Youpee and Sherry McClammy; nephews Brian Chapman and Mark McClammy and numerous other family members.

We are sorry if we forgot to mention anyone.
