Juanita Mitchell

Juanita Sue Mitchell, born on September 21, 1957, in Poplar, Montana, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in Billings, Montana. She was a retired employee of the Faith Lutheran Nursing Home, where her compassionate nature and diverse skill set found a cherished place in the community.

Juanita was known for her kind and welcoming demeanor, always making others feel at ease. Her great sense of humor brought joy to those around her, and she had an innate ability to uplift spirits wherever she went. She earned her G.E.D. and led a life rich with love and laughter, relishing moments spent with family, traveling, and engaging with the thrill of playing machines.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Kevin Mitchell; her son, DeWayne Shoots Jr.; her nieces, Barbie Merculieff and Jewel Merculieff. Juanita also leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Vance Merculieff; and great-grandson, Vance Merculieff Jr. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her cousins, Stuart Crazybull and Lupita.

Juanita was preceded in death by her dear friends Sherry Dupree, Charlie Crazybull, and Louise Iron Bear, who will greet her in peace.

Juanita's gentle spirit and warm-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A funeral service to honor Juanita’s life will be held at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, Montana, on December 16, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at St. Ann's Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
