Obituary

John Julian Fast Horse was born on January 7, 1964, to Michael Mathias Fast Horse & Melinda Arlene Shields. He was the 3rd child of the 7 children born to Mike & Melinda. He passed away on June 6, 2026.

John grew up & attended school in Brockton, then later moved to Poplar, where he lived with his lifelong companion of 40+ years, Theresa SunRhodes, until his passing.

John was a very loving, kind, humble, hardworking person. He was always there to help wherever he was needed.

He was employed by the Fort Peck Tribes as maintenance, before that he was employed at Tribal Express for several years. He also worked various other jobs such as seismography, sugar beets, surveying, etc. He worked for 25 years for his buddy Art Greybull on his ranch, he would help with his cattle, fencing, branding, hauling hay or whatever he was needed for. John really enjoyed this kind of work and would work on weekends even though he had a job.

John never had any children of his own, but he was a dad to all the children he helped raise.

John is survived by his children, Margie Keiser & baby Kia John, Thomas SunRhodes, Autum Arthur & Larry D. Hamilton. His siblings Michael Jr. (Sandy) FH, Michelene FH, Lucinda FH. His uncle Leonard (Snow) Rattling Thunder. Cousins Lenny, Terry, French, Harlin, & Matthew Rattling Thunder & Cheryl Bearhill & family. His nieces & nephews Latoya (Taz) Clark, Cara Beth FH, Casey, Wade, & Keisha FH, Erica & Floyd Jr. Runsabove, Natasha & Alicia FH, Clarence Sonny (Cindy) FH, Teaira, Kaine & Kassius FH, Jayla FH, and Tina Weinburger, Autumn, Misty & Sioux Dupree. Patrick & little Theresa Mckay.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mike & Melinda. His grandparents; Britton FH & Helen Rattling Thunder, Esther Buck Elk & Julian Shields. Siblings, Cynthia Greybull, Gordon FH, Katerri FH, Clarence FH Sr., & Arnold FH. His daughter, Jessica Keiser (baby Jess). Nephews, Jeremiah Medicine Elk, Jarid FH Sr, Mathias FH, & Maynard (Tre) Longee III.

John always made sure to tell his family that he loved them with all his heart, & that he prayed for them every day.

John had a very large extended family including Rattling Thunders, Bearhills, Buck Elks, Chase, Walking Eagles.

John FastHorse passed away on June 7th in Wolf Point. A wake will be held on Thursday, June 11th at 6pm at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 12th at 1pm at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at Riverside Catholic Cemetery.
