James “Jim” Soldo, age 76, of Palm Bay, FL unexpectedly passed away on October 5, 2025. He was born in Pittsfield, MA on March 13, 1949 to John J. and Mary Cravish Soldo.
He attended Pittsfield schools before joining the AirForce. Before going over to Thailand, Jim was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, where he met the love of his life Shirley Birdsbill Soldo (Sam to him) of Wolf Point, MT. They were married for 55 years.
Jim and Sam have three children, Dean Frederick, Dedla Ann, and Timothy James, all of whom he leaves behind. He Also leaves behind his grandchildren, Danni Gonzales, Cheyenne Soldo-Allessio, Gary Wood, Jr., 11 great grandchildren, and his cousin Pamela Scalzo (John Scalzo).
Early in their marriage they lived in Wolf Point and Jim did various jobs from cutting timber, to firefighting. Jim fell in love with Big Sky life, however, eventually they moved back to Pittsfield, where Jim worked Security at Berkshire Medical Center for 40 years.
Jim was a simple, patient man, who loved his family beyond measure. He was a man behind the times; he refused to carry a cell phone much to our dismay. He survived fatherhood and did life “One joint at a Time”. He loved to play music; he always carried a guitar. He enjoyed many hobbies from silver smithing, crafts, making furniture, working on cars, playing horseshoes, baseball, fishing, cross-country skiing, and taking some shots with his bow and or guns. He loved to watch westerns and movies like the Blues Brothers and Jeremiah Johnson. He would have loved to be a mountain man.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, as well as his siblings, John “Sonny” Soldo, Cathy Soldo, Linda Patterson and Joyce Phillips.
