James Daniel Murphy went to be with our creator on March 4, 2026, in Wolf Point, Montana. James was born on May 27, 1969, to Leonarda ‘Lenny’ Burshia and James ‘Jim’ Murphy in Poplar, Montana.
Growing up, James was raised and went to school in Poplar and Brockton, Montana, and Bowman, North Dakota. James worked on the oil rigs with his dad Jim and brother Leonard in his younger years. On May 29, 1998, James married his first wife Starla ‘Hutch’ White Hawk from this union they welcomed 3 children, Jorda, Tayton and Jasmine. James was an outgoing person and did what he could for his family. He always made sure his family was good. Everyone called him a big teddy bear growing up. On March 1, 2020, James married his wife Chelsea Williams, who he loved dearly and spent his days with her and her grandkids. James will be dearly missed, and he will never be forgotten, and we will always miss his joking around.
James is survived by his daughter Jorda (Devyn) Murphy, son Tayton Murphy; his wife Chelsea Murphy; his father Jim Murphy; step kids Jade Black Eagle and Thomas Lee Jr Black Eagle; Matthew Williams; his brothers Troy Cotter, Tommy Murphy, Donald Muphy, Kelly Murphy, and Calvin Lester; sisters Atonya Stokka, Patsy Butterworth, Sheila Mathews, Angel Murphy, and Crystal Azure. Grandchildren Ryanna, Amadeus, Liam, Jace, Jordan, Cassius, Treiton, Tanner, Teigan, Troy, Kamren. Neice, Sarie Murphy. Nephews Spencer Murphy, Kasey Murphy, Ethan Murphy, and Johnny Azure, and many more family members.
James is preceded in death by his daughter Jamine Murphy, mother Lenny Ross, brothers Leonard Murphy and Bryon Muphy, stepdaughter Renee Black Eagle and his nephew Corey Murphy.
