GiGi Grandchamp Giles (Nakoda name Holy Door Woman) passed away early in the morning on December 21, 2018. Losing a long hard battle to a terminal illness.
GiGi was born July 8, 1984 in Wolf Point to Dale and Jo Ellen Grandchamp. She was their precious only child. GiGi lived in Oswego area all her life. She attended school in Wolf Point and Frazer.
GiGi was a very active girl, always outside playing with her cousins T.J., Olyn, Honey, JuneGee and Donell. She started barrel racing at age 6 and break away roping at age 10. Team roping at age 11. Before she was even a teenager, her dad would put a few rides on a colt, then tell her take over “Put a rein, legques and a whoa on.” Her mom would look the other way.
At team ropings she never lacked heelers wanting her want to turn one for them. GiGi rode several different barrel horses and was competitive. But when she started her colt “Baldy.” “GiGi and Baldy” became a winning pair. She won a saddle her second season on him.
She loved the Wolf Point Stampede and carrying a flag for it. She started that at age 12 and did it for 15 years. She loved the loud cheering as she raced past the Frazer and Oswego crowd.
GiGi and Andy Giles were married September 9, 2001 in Wolf Point. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Savannah on December 11, 2002. It was the happiest day of their life. They later separated but remained close.
GiGi (the nickname given to her by her aunt Lynn) was so loved by all her family and she loved them all parents, aunties, uncles, grama Gladys, cousins, nieces, nephews. When GiGi started getting sick it was so heart breaking. She had her way of being “Boss” to all of us. When her Grama Gladys passed away she was so sad! Soon after, she decided she had her name and we should all listen to her. We did!
Gladys is survived by her daughter Savannah; parents Dale and JoEllen; husband Andy; aunts Davey Jean Stewart, Leah Grandchamp, Shelly Johnson, Peggy Martin, Sheila Standing, and Mary Sue Jackson; uncles Doug Grandchamp, Jim Grandchamp, Lowell Standing, Curtis Standing, and Larry Hamilton; all her cousins that were all special to her; her nieces and special nephew Petey Stump; and her sister in law Courtney Giles.
She is precededin death by her grand parents Joe and Gladys Jackson, and Dusette and Barbara Grandchamp; aunts Darla Payne, Lynn Campbell, Patty Stump, Cleo Hamilton; uncles Pete Stump, John Stewart; cousin Willie Reed; mother in law Roxann Giles; father in law Trevor Giles.
GiGi is so dearly missed and our hearts are broken. Precious, your pain and suffering is over. Your strength was unbelievable for what you went through.
Forever with us.
