Esther Ellison, age 87, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on February 23, 2015 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, Montana.
Esther was born at Stanton, North Dakota on September 9, 1927 to John and Magdelina Hintz. She was raised and went to country school and was the first of the family to graduate from Garrison High School.
On October 28, 1945 Dad (Orville) and Mom (Esther) were married. They raised 5 children: Bonnie, Terry, Kelvin, Barbara, and Julie. Mom was a full time housewife and mother. Esther loved to crochet; she made many afghans which she gave as gifts.
Another of mom’s loves was sewing. She was an excellent seamstress. Mom was a 4-H leader for many years. She hauled many of our projects to the fairs. Esther was a member of the snowmobile club where she won a brand new snowmobile and there were many snowmobile trips.
Esther loved crossword puzzles and reading was a true passion. Even as she was losing her eyesight to macular degeneration, she used her low vision machine to help her read.
Esther was proud of her family. They all proved to be hard workers. She had a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and dad taught us all well. Esther is survived by two sons, Terry (Virginia) Ellison of Garrison, North Dakota and Kelvin (Diane) Ellison of Pleasant Shade, Tennessee. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Richard) Vasicek of Colstrip, Montana, Julie (David) Anderson of Gordonsville, Tennessee, and Bonnie (Joe) Buckley of Wolf Point, Montana. Esther is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by husband Orville Ellison and one grandson.
Services for Esther will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison, North Dakota. Interment will follow at the Garrison Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point, Montana and Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison, North Dakota have been entrusted with arrangements.
