Diane Lee-Granbois Taypayosatum age 53, 0f Poplar, Montana passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday February 19 th 2019. Wicahpi Duta Winyan “Red Star Woman” was born April 15 th 1965 in Poplar, Montana to Beulah Ula Melbourne-Granbois and Phillip Harris Granbois Sr. Diane grew up and attended school in Poplar, MT; she went on to receive her GED in 1983. She worked as a bartender at Log Cabin Bar in Poplar, managed the Roller Rink, did some wildland fire fighting and later became an EMT for Poplar Hospital. Even though she was the baby of the family, she was always the protector. She studied martial arts and self-defense. She had an impressive collection of rifles and handguns; and let me tell you, she was an expert marksman. Diane married her best friend and the love of her life, Robert Taypayosatum on December 16 th 2001 in Poplar, MT. He became “Dad” to her five beautiful daughters. Diane believed in our traditional ways she participated in Sundances, sweats, ceremonies, and danced at powwows most of her life. She always had a way of teaching others whether it was sewing, cooking, or fixing things around the house. She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Diane was the “Jack of all trades.” Her hobbies included riding horses, playing with her pets, beading, sewing, knitting, crochet, embroidery, painting, baking, reading, listening to music, dancing, singing, visiting, and especially teasing. She always kept herself busy daily, always doing something spontaneous. Diane had a long list of accomplishments but she took the most pride in being a wonderful wife, the best mother, and an amazing grandma. She loved spending time with her family, it didn’t matter what they did. She was just happy they got to spend time together. Diane looked for the beauty in life and took every chance she could to make someone laugh. Diane had lived every day like it was her last. She never held back, she loved deeply, always did things at the spur of the moment. She was great at everything she did, she did everything so effortlessly, she lived fearlessly. Diane is laid to rest with her parents Beaula Ula Melbourne-Granbois and Phillip Harris Granbois Sr; her brothers Phillip Granbois Jr., James Granbois, Glen Granbois, and Eddy O. Smith; her nephews Clifford Granbois Sr. and Wade White Eagle; her grandbabies Angel Granbois and Jake Granbois
