Dennis Wayne Simons, age 63, passed away at his home in Poplar, Montana on September 9, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. A life well lived and well loved.
Dennis was born to Mary (Anderson) Gonzalez and Jim Simons on May 2, 1962. He grew up on B. St in Poplar where kids would come from all over town to play. The kids would play kick the can, kickball and hockey by freezing the street (they would sneak water from the houses until they were caught). Dennis attended Poplar Schools playing the sports basketball, football and wrestling. He also sang in choir and played both the drums and trumpet in band. Dennis graduated from Poplar High School in 1980.
After high school, Dennis met and married Delrae Reddoor and from that union his winona Andrea was born. Dennis then met and married his best friend and the love of his life, Farrell RedDog and from that union his baby Antoinette was born creating a blended family and Dennis had two more children, Maurice and Roxanne Morsette.
Dennis was a devoted, hard worker. Dennis began his career in the oilfield. He worked as a roustabout for Jim Jones in the oilfield and then started his own roustabout company for many years. Dennis would say that oil smells like money. Dennis moved to Columbus with his family in 1998 and worked at Timberweld working with lumber until they moved back to Poplar. Dennis resumed his work in the oilfield working as a pumper for continental resources. Dennis would farm in the summers on his vacation. Dennis eventually left the oilfield and began to work full-time farming for Scott McGowan, which he loved. Dennis worked for Scott farming until his death.
Dennis loved fishing, hunting, pool, horseshoes, golfing, skiing, water skiing and camping with his family. Dennis enjoyed nature and animals. He would hunt for arrow heads and heart rocks to give all his girls. Dennis valued his family and friends above all else. Dennis was amazing at showing his love and friendship in big ways and so many little ways. You definitely felt his caring.
Dennis is survived by his wife Farrell Simons and two daughters Andrea (David) Simons-Mrgudich and Antoinette (Devon) Simons, his granddaughters Cante Skuya, Adelle Brown, Orleena GreyBear and Marilyn Ferguson, great-grandson Edwin Brown, brother Jim Simons, stepmother Mary Lou Simons, niece Brittany Ferguson, nephews Todd Simons and Tyler Ferguson, many cousins and friends.
