Della Kay Brown, age 65, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Billings, Montana. She was born on May 24, 1960, in Poplar, Montana.
Della was a woman whose heart knew no limits. She was deeply compassionate and opened her home and her life to anyone in need. She raised many children and loved them all as her own, never turning away someone who needed care, comfort, or a place to belong. Della’s love was shown through her actions: a warm meal, a bed to sleep in, a listening ear, or giving her last dollar if it meant helping someone else.
She loved adventures and long drives out in the country, cruising, hunting with her brother Dennis and mom, and spending time with her family and friends. Her home was always full of food, laughter, and love. No one ever left hungry, and everyone was welcome. Della’s presence made people feel safe, accepted, and cared for.
Della is survived by her children: Jasy Brown, Danelle Dragswolf, Dellaine Darnell, and Ira Darnell Jr. She also leaves behind her sister, Nadine Richards, Nieces Marcie Haines from Gilbert, Arizona, Amanda Green from Gilbert, Arizona and Laura Longee from Vancouver Washington, nephew Frank Red Eagle, Jr., and her uncle, Michael Youngman Sr. She was a proud grandmother to Isiah Dragswolf, D’Laine Dragswolf, Joseph Frederick III, Jasey Brown, Destiny, Carla & Raelyn Birthmark, Colton Darnell, John & Clayton Montclair, Kobe Darnell, Savannah Wimmer, Liessa Browning, Christopher Browning, and a loving great-grandmother to Kaila, Grayson, and Ryah Kay. She also leaves behind the men who will love her forever, the father of her children Ira Darnell Sr & a special companion Robert Brien of 35 years. She also cherished her beloved pets, her babies Beebe, Sir, and Stinky Lou and all her other loyal furry pets. Della leaves behind many grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar Brown and Florence Youngman; her brother, Dennis Red Boy; and her grandson, Andrew Jaymes.
We apologize if we have missed anyone, as Della’s family and friends extend far and wide.
Della Kay Brown will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unconditional love, and the way she made everyone feel like family. We love you, Della Kay until we meet again.
