Darwin Sheldon Birthmark passed away on September 2, 2021 in Poplar. He was born on September 7, 1958 to Eunice Alfrey and Clarence Birthmark. Sheldon graduated from Poplar High School in 1978. He played and attended many sports and activities while in school. He was employed at several jobs throughout his lifetime. Sheldon was a fire fighter in his younger years and was an awesome crew boss. He always made sure his crew was safe. He loved the outdoors and all that came along with it, like fishing, hunting, camping, etc. Sheldon loved music and loved to play drums and would fill in as a drummer for local bands when needed. He loved spending time with friends and family. He liked to make people laugh and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. He made many great friends and they all had a special place in his heart. Sheldon carried the Indian name Walking Buffalo. He had a strong belief in his traditional ways and in the spirit world.
Sheldon is survived by his children, Hether Demko, Jennifer Graybull, and her daughtyers, Lila Sage and Oaklee Renee and her spouse Colter GrayHawk, Sheldon (Mariah) Pinkerton; his sister Sandra Birthmark; sister-in-law, Rose Morsette; nieces, Jonnie Harrington and family, Leanda Cashman and family, Debra Hapa and family; nephews, Richard Chase and family, Nathan Chase Sr. and family, James Chase and family, Robert Birthmark and family, Willie Birthmark and family; cousins, Julian Shields and family and Michelene FastHorse and family; adopted nieces and nephews, Maureen (Brad) GrayHawk, Marie Draszt, Mavis Draszt, J.R. Draszt; also adopted brother Tommy Christian and family; adopted sister Dela Brown and family; grandson William Chopper. Also, the Bad Temper Bear Clan.
Sheldon had many more friends and relatives too many to mention but he did love you all. You all had a very special place in his heart.
Sheldon was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Lavern Alfrey; siblings, Sharon Owens, Diane Chase, Lynn Birthmark, Darryl Birthmark, James Birthmark, Joyce Birthmark, Clarice Birthmark, Nolan Birthmark, Kermit Birthmark; adopted brother, Scott Harrington, and nephew, Lynn Curtis Birthmark, niece Claudette Chase; nephew, Thomas Lynn Morsette.
A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Poplar, Montana. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.
