Cheryl Roberta (Bobbi) Doney

May 2, 1947 — July 14, 2019

Our loving beautiful Mother, adoptive mother, Sister, Daughter, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, God Mom, Auntie, friend, love and our angel on earth, has gone on her journey to be with our Great Spirit and all our relatives in Heaven. There are no words that can truly encompass or describe what a wonderful spirit she was. Bobbi was born two and a half miles west of Oswego to Wilson and Josephine Jackson. She was a true “Daddy’s Girl”. She grew up with her brothers and sisters in the traditional Red Bottom Clan ways. She was stunning and quite a looker as she always presented herself with dignity, modesty, respect, and pride, however; she was very humble of her beauty, inside and out. Bobbi married her first love Norman Sibley Sr. and brought their beautiful daughters Norina Lynn Sibley and Doral Lee Sibley into the world. Funny story: most didn’t know her real name was Cheryl (pronounced with a hard Ch like her native name Chokecherry Woman), as many didn’t realize her middle name was Roberta, thus everyone knew her as “Bobbi”. Norman and Bobbi moved to Kansas where Norman worked as a house painter, then moved to Frazer and opened a garage where Bobbi learned to be a pretty nifty mechanic, and even taught daddy a few tricks of the trade taught to her by her daddy. The young hearts struggled for a time and sadly separated for the betterment of their family. Norman went on to have two more beautiful children Sarellel and Norman Jr, who Bobbi also loved as her own. Bobbi remarried her lifelong spouse John Doney. Together they had their pride and joy and her baby boy Johnny Dale Doney Sr. Bobbi and John raised the three kids and grandkids in Frazer, and opened their home to many over the years. John doted over Bobbi and strived to give her a comfortable life and was a great provider; thus anything she wanted he’d find a way to get it for her. John and Bobbi made a great life together until Johns passing in 2015,in Wiota.

Bobbi was an amazing person that surpassed so many obstacles in life to achieve many great things. She strived and always pushed her children, and all children, to seek an education and complete their educational degrees. She once said to her children,” you can make any dream happen”. If she ever heard the word “can’t” she would say, “you are my child  and have a strong bloodline that has great and powerful ancestors. Let nothing stop you from achieving anything in life. I never raised you to say “can’t”, your my child and you can do anything! She was a modest humble and kind person with a huge heart of gold. She was always a devoted advocate for children and families and opened her home to anyone in need. Bobbi mothered and hosted many foster children and exchange students from all over the world. As she was a huge Elvis fan, you could say there was a lot of “hunka hunka burning love” in her heart and home. Her home was where everyone loved to gather and she always had everything and anything you needed, and if she didn’t have it, she’d find a way to get it for you. Bobbi was a perfectionist as her home was always immaculate and decorated in the traditional heritage, with many paintings, antique cups, dolls, and gifts from her many friends and relatives all over the world. She loved to share her many stories and made everyone feel welcome. She loved to sew and made many star quits that she always gave away. Bobbi loved horses and the thrill of that intense bidding auction, battling for that rustic piece she intended to restore. She was creative and had many talents she learned from her Daddy and Mommy, Wilson and Josephine Jackson. You could say she was a true “Jane of all trades”. Bobbi was very stern in her traditional ways and would set you straight if you were being disrespectful to the elders and to our tradition.

Mother, you will always be in our hearts, and please know that we are going to be Ok. When we think of you often, we will remember your love and your teachings. Thank you for the time you fought to give us, you fought an excruciating fight to be here for as long you could. You made sure your daughters had true loving companions, to care for them as you did. We feel we were not worthy of your long struggle, and can only hope to be as strong as you were for our children. We will struggle to continue on without seeing you, but we will always know you are here in our hearts watching over us as you always did. Safe journey Mother and know that we have no fear, only strength and belief in Our Creator. For we know that when the time comes, our Great Spirit will reunite us all in heaven and carry us home to you and all our relations.
