Chauncey Leo Elk “Popeye” “Wòohitika Taŋka”, our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, grandson, friend made his journey home on April 26th, 2026 in Seattle, WA with his mother by his side.
Chauncey was born on March 9th, 1989 to Sophia Martell-Youngman and Maurice Elk, Sr. Popeye received his nickname form his grandparents as a young child due to a stye in his eye. He grew up in Riverside with his grandparents, mother, stepdad, siblings, and cousin Heather. Even when he was a young child, he always had a smile on his face and a sense of humor which will be greatly missed. No matter the circumstances he was always trying to brighten up the mood. After graduating from Poplar High School in 2007, Chauncey joined the Army. Following his service, he returned home to care for his grandparents. Those who knew Chauncey will remember his joyful spirit and the way he loved spending time with friends and walking around town visiting with everyone he saw. He shared his vibrant personality with the world through TikTok, bringing smiles and laughter to many.
Chauncey is survived by his mother, Sophia Martell-Youngman, step-dad Mitch Youngman, Beverly Bird whom he loved as a mother, siblings; Maurice (Tiffany) Elk, Brandi Brown, Troy Brown Jr., Tommy Brown, Zandalie Martell, Boy, Samantha, Sasha, Mitchell Jr, William, and Anthony Youngman. His aunts; Betty Martell, Midge and Cheryl Martell. Uncles; Frank (Judy) Martell, Stanley Martell. His cousins; Devon and Jasmine Demarrias, Waylon (Connie) Youpee, Bernice (Michael) Jordan, Willard (Tsz Ling) White, Donovan Martell Sr., Donovan Martell Jr., Dawn (Jessie) Martell, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Martell, Sabrina Martell, Wilma Martell, Dewayne Martell, Tonetta (Orin) Cantrell, Roberta Not Afraid, Alfred, Buddy, Chili, Ida, and Jack Walking Eagle, Frank Martell Jr., Floyd Martell III Cale (Klarissa) Martell, Cameron (Carly) Martell, Brandon and Keandra Martell, Emma Martell, Heather Martell, Miles, Kristie, and Lenny Boxer. Nieces; Alyssa Wiggins, Monica Solano, Courtney, Tori, and Khloe Martell, Jhene and Atarrah Brown, Samara and Mikayla MeCoteau, Debra, Tamra, and Julie Pinkerton, Zaeyanna Boxer. Nephews; Preston and Callin Martell, Justin Pinkerton, Tyler Jordan, Waylon Youpee Jr., Ramiro Solano Jr., Owen Cantrell, Tyson, Xavier, Kingsley and Walter Elk, Derrick Jr., and Sonny Frislie, Chase and De’Sean Brown, Isreal and Sincere Brown, Zandyn Beston, Xander Beston Jr., Easton Weston, Sundown, and Miles Boxer Jr; Joyce, Marilyn, Martin Martell and family.

Chauncey is preceded in death by his great grandpa Sahnos Henderson, great grandma Emma Henderson, grandpa Dominic Floyd Martell, grandma Roberta Martell, brother Delmar Martell, sister Ashley Elk, uncles Jack Martell, Floyd Martell, aunties Monica Martell-Walking Eagle, Lori Ann Martell, cousin Lisa Martell, father Maurice Elk Sr., and numerous family and friends taken but not forgotten.
