Carlene Jackson

Carlene “Rio” Jackson went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family at the NEMHS facility on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Carlene lost a courageous 19 year battle with cancer, one day short of her 40 th birthday.

Carlene was born April 30, 1974 at the Wolf Point Trinity Hospital. She was the 2 nd oldest of eight children born to Wilbert F. Jackson and Frances E. Hotomani Jackson. Carlene attended Frazer Public School, graduating in 1992. Carlene also attended Haskell Indian Nation University.  Carlene enjoyed spending time with her family especially her son, Michael, who was born on July 10, 2000, and nieces and nephews. She also enjoyed playing pool and won a few jackets. She liked reading books and hanging out with her cousins, having fun, laughing, and teasing one another. Carlene looked forward to watching her dad, brothers, nephews, and cousins participate in the Wolf Point Wild Horse Stampede every year.

Carlene is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Frances Jackson; maternal grandparents, Mike Ryder and Ruth Hotomani; grandpas, Wilbert Jackson and August “Gus” Hayes; uncles, Elvis “Abby” Hotomani, Reginald “Reggie” Hotomani, Terry Ryder, Stonewalll, James, Emerson, and Clarence Jackson.

Carlene is survived by her only child, Michael James Jackson; sisters, Mary (Grant) Stafne, Shannon (Roland ) Nez, and Charmaine (Willie) Mail; brothers, Wilbert, James, Mikey, and Aaron Jackson; aunts, Wilberta Toavs, Mary Sue Jackson, Meryle Montclair, and Millie Hotomani; uncles, Mike and Gary Hotomani; grandmother, Mary Hayes; and grandpa, Prince Brockie.

Carlene was loved by her family and friends and will be missed by all.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Community Hall in Frazer, MT. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 2 at the Community Hall in Frazer. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Frazer.
