Brenda Lee Bigleggins (Goodbird), age 59, of Poplar, Montana, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Poplar.
Brenda was born on October 19, 1962 to Donald and Margaret Bigleggins in Poplar, MT where she lived all of her life. Brenda loved listening to her favorite music and spending time with her family and friends. But more than anything, she loved her time spent with her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, just laughing and joking around. There was never a dull moment with her.
In Brenda’s late teen years, she met Matthew “Truxler” Scott in Poplar. Together they had 8 children. Later in life, she met Gerald “Herman” Goodbird, whom she spent 20 years with and later married in 2016.
Brenda spent her last days surrounded by family and friends who loved her, doing what she loved to do, and traveling with her grandchildren, whom she raised, Brianna, Nayteelia, Crystal, Gerald, Sundown, Gracie, Matthew “Trey” Scott, and her niece, Orvella McKay; her son, Matthew Jr.; sister, Valerie White Hawk; brother, Curtis; sister-in-law, Annabelle Scott; nephew, Brian Olson and wife, Bernadette who did all they could to take care of Brenda and made sure she was always smiling. Brenda touched so many hearts and will be missed by all who knew her.
Brenda is preceded in death by her father, Donald Bigleggins; mother, Margaret Bigleggins; sisters, Rhonda Bigleggins, Carla Olson, Davetta Lester; brothers, Laval Bigleggins, and Percy Lester; grandmother, Lucille Snell; daughters, Geraldine Ranae Scott and Annette Scott; son, Dustin Scott Sr.; grandson, Baby Dustin; and husband, Gerald “Herman” Goodbird.
Brenda is survived by her sisters, Valerie White Hawk and Veronica Bigleggins of Wolf Point, Sharon Alden of Billings; brothers, Richard Bigleggins and Curtis Bigleggins of Poplar; aunts, Rose Morsette and Agnes Ward of Poplar; son, Matthew Scott Jr.; daughters, Audrea Scott (TJ Day), Miranda Scott, and Sue Anne Bigleggins, and Mattie Bigleggins all of Poplar; nieces, Donna Bigleggins, Dallas Bigleggins, and Skyla Whitehawk; nephews, Brian Olson, Laval Bigleggins, Jr. Lester, Robert Birthmark, Alaveno Spotted Elk, Matthew Loveshim, Rudy Loveshim; grandchildren, Josia and Esai Scott, Matthew Trey Scott, Dante Eagle Boy, Micah Eagle Boy, Daniel Jeremiah Scott Boyd, Darius, Ryan, Ryse WhiteHorse, William, Braden, Dustin, Gerald, and Zekiel, Sundown, Daylen, and Elljay Rush and Darrell Jones; granddaughters, Brianna Scott, Whisper Eagle Boy, Nayteelia, Harley and Crystal Bigleggins Estella and Gracie Bigleggins, Val Rae and Cheyenna, Sereda, and Dezzie Scott; great grandson, Josiah Matias Youngman-Scott; extended families are Steeles, Lesters, and Snells; special friends, whom she considered family, Bernadette, Eunice Davis, Sharon Yellow Owl, Karen Eder, Annabelle Scott, Elmira Chaser, Richelle Melbourne, Waynette Boyd; classmates, Jodie and Michelle Boyd, and Valerie Longtree; and many relatives too many to name, if we missed anyone we are sorry.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, August 5 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Cemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
