Austin Ray Peterson, age 29, passed away on January 28, 2023 at Billings Clinic in Billings, Montana due to organ failure.
He was born on March 12, 1993 in Wolf Point, Montana. He graduated from Wolf Point Highschool in 2011.
Austin was a very adventurous person and always wanted to try something new or drive somewhere new. Austin always wanted to learn everything he could. He had several jobs throughout his life and was able to learn new skills from all of them. He was very proud of his last employment with tribal enterprise as a plumber’s assistant. He told his mother, “What I do is nasty and dirty but when you help someone with their plumbing, you should see their faces, so thankful. You got their problem fixed. That makes my day, Mom.”
Austin was always on the go. Fishing, hunting, pretending to go fishing…. He just had to be doing something outdoors and enjoying life. He loved music and he loved his family. Austin was known to have a good sense of humor; he had a great smile that everyone loved. He was a very charismatic individual. Everyone was drawn to him and he would have them conversing and laughing in an instant.
Austin had plenty of girlfriends and vehicles but he finally settled with Josie White and had two daughters. Mallie Mae Rose Peterson was born on January 8, 2017 and Skylnn Rannae Peterson was born on May 20, 2018. Him and Josie separated later and he met Kristen Bighorn. Kristen and Austin got married in July of 2022 at the Bridge Park. He had two step-children, Arora Big Horn and Leighton Red Eagle.
Austin was a friendly man and made plenty of friends. He was always very helpful but sometimes wanted to do things in his own time. “I shake at a lambs tail,” he always said, that lamb must have had some long tail.
Austin will be missed by many and will always be in our thoughts and hearts.
He is survived by his wife, Kristen Peterson (Big Horn); his daughters, Mallie Mae Rose Peterson and Skylnn Rannae Peterson; his step-children, Arora Big Horn and Leighton Red Eagle; his mother, Lois Eder, of Wolf Point; his sister, Stephen Eder, of Wolf Point; his brother, Channing Eder, of Washington; his aunty, Florance McKay, of Wolf Point; his uncle, Gary Peterson, of Wolf Point; his nephew, Christopher Miller, of Wolf Point; his nieces, Dang McKay, of Wolf Point, and Madison Eder, of Wolf Point.
He is preceded in death by his step-dad, Forrest E. Eder; his sister, Jessica Eder; his grandmother, Catherine Peterson; his grandfathers, Donald E. Peterson and William Eder; his auntie, Lori A. Peterson; and his nephew, Xavier Darnell.
His beautiful smile will stay in our hearts forever.
